What Pinoys do in a rainy day...

It's cold outside; the air invisibly outstretches into every house in Manila. A little later, tiny billion drops of swollen moisture spatters into the dry land, bringing hope to the thirsty fauna and every creature on earth. Truly, the rainy season has invaded the tropical Philippines!

So what's your business during these lonesome, lazy days? Here are some things I have observed most Filipinos enjoy doing:

Drinking hot, steaming Coffee. Instant or brewed, cheap or outrageously expensive, sipping a finely prepared cup of coffee soothes the cold, damp day.

Kids bathing under the rain. I still see this sometimes, though not all kids are allowed by their overprotective parents. I'm quite curious how this feels like, but I'm pretty sure I'll end up gnashing my teeth after an hour of soaking up XD

Eating champorado and tuyo/dilis/daing altogether.
Champorado is a popular merienda (afternoon snack) of Filipinos. It's like chocolate porridge (without the salt and pepper, of course) poured with a generous amount of condensed milk. A combination of dried fish such as the tuyo, dilis (anchovies) and daing is best eaten in the middle of the rainy day. If you don't enjoy this, you're definitely not Filipino (or in denial! XD)

Watching movie marathons. This 'ritual' is usually practiced during the Holy Week, but oftentimes some Pinoys are enthralled with viewing their favorite movies while the outside is moist.

Eating sinigang or nilagang baka. Both traditional favorite soups of the Kayumanggis, the sinigang is a kind of soup mixed with various leafy vegetables, chili pepper, tomatoes and (usually) pork or seafood spiced up with some vinegar and gabi, while Nilagang Baka is a favorite delicacy made of green local vegetables, quartered potatoes and fresh beef and bone marrow.

Sleeping all day. It's a boring day, right? Best to spend it by snoozing in bed in peace...especially during the weekend!

AND MOST OF ALL..

Rowing the boat. Nothing beats the Philippines for being the world's most flooded city in the world. Due to the nation's apathetic habit of dumping garbage everywhere, the drainage evolves into its worst, making the country into a huge pool of wasteland every time the rainy season comes. There's traffic, knee-reaching (or even neck-level) floods and well, rowing of boats...literally :p
